Job Title:   DEPUTY CEO

Starting Salary:   Commensurate with experience

Job Description:   The position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Deputy CEO) assists the President/CEO in managing all line and staff functions and activities of VIA Metropolitan Transit. Under the direction of the President/CEO this position plans, organizes, directs and administers all internal functions of the Business Support Services Group. This position also provides support to the President/CEO in efforts to build greater support among stakeholders and the public for existing and advanced transit systems in San Antonio. The position also provides leadership in developing recommendations to the President/CEO for action by the Board of Trustees, and the implementation of decisions of the President/CEO and the Board of Trustees. The Deputy CEO also performs other related duties as required.

Education and Experience:   A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban or Transportation Planning, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. 10 years experience in progressively responsible positions to provide an adequate background in a broad range of functions pertaining to mass transit, particularly in one or more of the areas related to the position. 7 years experience in a senior management position. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be acceptable.
