CHIEF EXTERNAL & GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS OFFICER
Starting Salary:
Min: $8,173 – Mid: $11,332 per month
Job Description:
This position provides the strategic direction for VIA’s community outreach, governmental relations, and assigned strategic projects. This position ensures the coordination an involvement of federal, state, and local elected officials and staff outreach, community leaders, and stakeholders supporting VIA’s programs and projects. This position represents VIA before governmental agencies, community stakeholders, and civic organizations.
This position requires coordination of multiple staff within and across the organization and integrating the work of multiple contractors, working on high profiles, sensitive and confidential issues. Incumbent must over and participate in multiple projects and initiatives while prioritizing critical and time-sensitive projects. This position is further charged with selecting and developing work standards, methods, and operational procedures and preparing specialized reports and outcomes.
This position provides executive-level leadership for special projects and programs, impacting agency-wide operations, funding, and operations. This position may exercise functional supervision over one or more divisions within VIA.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in governmental relations, public engagement, transportation policy and programs, or equivalent subject areas. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
Ten (10) years’ experience in progressively responsible positions to provide a background in a broad range of functions pertaining to public engagement, transportation policy, governmental relations, and financial analysis utilizing federal, state and local funds to deliver transportation enhancements, including but not limited to strategic planning and program development and analysis for a public or private sector organization specifically where assignments have included significant interaction with executives, public officials, and other community organizations.
Eight (8) years’ experience in a management position.
