Job Summary
Job Title:   PROJECT CONTROLS/SCHEDULER

Starting Salary:   $5,315 - $9,155 per month

Job Description:   Responsible for development and management of planning, engineering and construction schedules, budgets, staffing, and cost expenditures, in the Strategic Planning and Project Development Group. Assists the Director of VIA Capital Programs and Director of Capital and Service Planning in preparation of department manpower and budget activities related to vertical and horizontal projects. Provides quality control oversight of the work of, as well as guidance to, Engineering and Planning staff and contractors. Applies professional management skills and technical knowledge related to the supervision, coordination, management and execution of special projects, feasibility studies, consultants, contracts compliances, and VIA’s capital projects. Prepares materials for and makes presentations to upper management. Expected to work independently with only occasional Director supervision. This position requires professional interaction with VIA staff (especially those in planning, engineering, fleet & facilities, safety, security, procurement, finance, etc.), as well as with consultants, contractors/subcontractors, and state and local authorities.

Education and Experience:   Must have Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field and at least 7 years’ experience in construction contract compliance issues, procurement and project management, or an acceptable combination thereof, preferably in the management, construction, or supervision of major transit/multimodal, or vertical capital project(s). Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or certification as a Project Management Professional is preferred.
