Job Summary
Job Title:   ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER III

Starting Salary:   $5,315 - $9,155 per month

Job Description:   Responsible for assigned design, engineering, and construction projects. Performs project management of larger engineering design and construction projects. Assists the Manager of Engineering in preparation of department manpower and budget activities. Provides quality control oversight of the work of, as well as guidance as needed to, Engineering Project Managers II. Applies professional management skills and technical knowledge to the supervision, coordination, management and execution of special projects, consultants, contracts, and VIA’s construction projects. Prepares materials for and makes presentations to upper management. Expected to work under only occasional supervision of their Manager, this position will provide technical assistance to activities relative to the conceptual, design, cost estimating and construction phases of bus and rail transit facilities and maintenance projects. This position requires professional interaction with VIA staff (especially those in planning, engineering, safety, security, procurement, finance, etc.), as well as with consultants, contractors/subcontractors, and state and local authorities.

Education and Experience:   Must have Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field and at least seven (7) years’ experience in engineering design, construction implementation, construction contract compliance issues, procurement and project management, or an acceptable combination of experience and education. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or the ability to obtain within six months of employment is highly desirable.
